The Chester County Planning Commission is governed by a nine-member advisory board which is appointed by the County Commissioners on a four-year term basis. Each member brings a different background to CCPC, and we are excited to highlight this year's newly appointed Board Chairman, Michael Heaberg!

After serving as a Tredyffrin Township Supervisor for five years and developing a particular interest in land use planning and infrastructure, Michael was honored to be appointed to the CCPC Board in 2016. After serving on the Board for nearly six years, Michael was nominated and appointed as the 2022 Board Chairman this past January.

As Chairman, Michael leads the Board's monthly public meetings and provides support to CCPC's Executive Director, Brian O'Leary, along with other staff. Noting the CCPC staff and products (including Landscapes3) should be nationally recognized for their excellence, Michael says, "I hope to further the County stakeholders' use of our staff's professional expertise and vision, as well as the guidance and technology they offer."

When asked what he liked best about being involved with CCPC, Michael noted that working with the staff and fellow Board members is his favorite part. "Their skill and commitment to Chester County's quality of place is truly impressive," he added.

Growing up in Memphis, TN, Michael moved to Berwyn, PA in the first grade where he has spent most of his life since and continues to reside today. As a family and individual investment and wealth management advisor, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge to the CCPC as well.

Michael currently serves on the boards of the Tredyffrin Municipal Authority and the Valley Forge Sewer Authority treatment plant, in addition to the CCPC Board.

In his spare time, Michael can often be found walking around Berwyn (getting his 10,000 steps), golfing, rooting for the Eagles, and spending time with his wife, three children and their spouses, as well as his grandchildren. He also enjoys spending time in Valley Forge Park for its natural beauty, historic structures , and its importance in the American story.
