Update from the America250PA Chester County Commission

The 250th Anniversary Commemoration of the United States is now less than four years away, and Chester County continues to prepare for this semi-quincentennial event by remembering our past, celebrating the present, and looking forward to a promising future!
Leading this effort locally is the America250PA Chester County Commission — a 29-member commission comprised of representatives from various historic organizations throughout the county. The Chester County Planning Commission's Heritage Preservation Coordinator, Laura DeMatteo, recently provided an update on the Commission's latest status and activities.
DeMatteo highlighted the establishment of the Commission's six new committees (formed at the first "official" meeting on July 12), which will help to develop and execute a work plan for the commission. The committees include: Heritage Sites; Partnership; Communications and Marketing; Education; Program and Event; and Development.
The Commission also developed six Heritage Themes in support of the commemoration, which include: War and Chester County; Industry; Social Change; Natural Resources; Patterns of Land Use; and Arts and Culture. They will focus on the overarching theme of "Power of Place" as they continue to support these specific areas.
The America250PA Chester County Commission supports the state's America250PA Commission, as well as the national America250 Foundation.
