Project submissions are now open for the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program. This 5-billion-dollar, 5-year program makes federal funds available to local, county, and regional agencies to create safety plans. Information about the grant and the now-open 2024 application period can be found on the SS4A website, which includes information about eligible activities and access to program webinar recordings.

A few weeks ago, we reached out to our municipalities to announce that Chester County is collaborating with the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) and its county partners on a Regional Safety Action Plan with the goal of learning more about the 200 crashes per day in our region and identifying steps to improve roadway safety everywhere. Even one death on our roads is too many, and most of these crashes are preventable. You likely have some areas that pose safety concerns in your municipality, and participation in our process is a great first step in making a difference.

If you're thinking of applying to SS4A or have already, please email DVRPC with "SS4A" in the subject line. Any municipality interested in applying for an SS4A grant is required to coordinate with DVRPC to ensure collaboration and resource sharing in conjunction with their in-progress SS4A-funded Regional Vision Zero effort. Please contact DVRPC to learn more and receive assistance.
